WESTON, Mass. - Regis College pulled into a tie with Albertus Magnus College late in the first half, but the Falcons picked up the only goal in the second half to defeat the Pride, 2-1, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's collegiate soccer match at Regis Stadium.

Albertus Magnus started to take control of the possession as the first half went along, taking five shots between the 14th and 18th minutes of action. In the 20th minute, Kelvin Cortez scored for the Falcons to give them a 1-0 advantage.

The Pride earned the equalizing goal in the 32nd minute as Joey Davila (Bristol, Conn.) collected the first goal of his collegiate career. Each team had a chance to pull ahead later in the first half, but a shot by Orantay Blake was turned away by Regis goalie Ethan Donahue (Methuen, Mass.), while Sebastian Ortiz's (Carolina, Puerto Rico) opportunity to give the Pride the lead was stopped by Falcon keeper David Lucero.

The Falcons grabbed control of the match as the second half began, led by three shots on goal by Roger Baldwin as well as a shot from Kris Bocchio that hit off the left post. Albertus Magnus took the lead for good in the 59th minute as Cortez again converted on a shot.

As the clock ticked under 20 minutes remaining in the match, Chris Guadagno (Miami, Fla.) earned two shots on goal in a two-minute span, but Lucero was able to keep the ball out of the net in both cases. Lucero finished with three saves as he earned the victory, while Donahue ended up with eight saves for the Pride.
