Regis Men's Soccer Earns First GNAC Win of Season

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's soccer team had an offensive explosion in the first half of their home opener against Elms College on its way to a 3-0 victory over the Blazers Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Regis Stadium.

Javin Stickney (Gorham, Maine) scored a pair of goals with an assist on the first goal from Jeremiah Frias (San Diego, Calif.) and on the second goal from Joey Davila (Bristol, Conn.). Momentum for the first goal started just after a corner kick created space in the offensive zone for the Pride to pressure the Blazers. Just six minutes after the first goal, Davila slipped a pass to Stickney for the second goal of the game.

The Pride held possession for most of the match, taking 15 shots. Elms goalie Colin Liedke faced six shots on goal and had three saves. Regis had five corner kicks, while the Blazers had two.

Just shy of three minutes into the second half, Riley Stogsdill (San Diego, Calif.) sent the ball into the box, setting up Stephen Allsopp II (Medford, Mass.) to take a shot and score what would become the last goal of the game.

Ethan Donahue (Methuen, Mass.) made three saves in just over 80 minutes of action between the pipes to pick up the victory for the Pride.

Regis (1-1, 1-0 GNAC) play at Saint Joseph's College of Maine in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match starting at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13.
