Regis Men’s Soccer Announces 2023 Competition Schedule

2023 REGIS COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER SCHEDULE

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College men's soccer program has finalized the competition schedule for the 2023 season, as the Pride head into a slate containing eight home matches and two new conference contests.

Regis begins the season by traveling to Buzzards Bay, Mass., Saturday, Sept. 2, for a non-conference contest against Massachusetts Maritime Academy. The Pride open the home schedule with their first two Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matches of the year, hosting Colby-Sawyer College Tuesday, Sept. 5, and Elms College Saturday, Sept. 9.

The Pride enter a tough four-match road swing with contests at Saint Joseph's College Wednesday, Sept. 13, and at Johnson and Wales Saturday, Sept. 16. Regis heads north to face Rivier Tuesday, Sept. 19, before concluding the stretch of road games at Emmanuel College Saturday, Sept. 23.

Regis hosts Norwich University Wednesday, Sept. 27, and Albertus Magnus College for the annual Regis Fest event Saturday, Sept. 30. The Pride open October with road matches at GNAC newcomer New England College Wednesday, Oct. 4, at defending GNAC champion University of Saint Joseph Saturday, Oct. 7, and at rival Lasell University Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Although the Pride will play their final five matches in the span of 11 days, four of them will be at home, including Saturday afternoon, Oct. 14, against Dean College. After the final road match of the regular season at Westfield State Monday, Oct. 16, Regis concludes the regular season at Regis Stadium against Anna Maria Wednesday, Oct. 18, versus GNAC newcomer Mitchell Saturday, Oct. 21, and against Salem State Tuesday, Oct. 24.

With the expansion of the GNAC to 15 teams for men's soccer, the 2023 GNAC Men's Soccer Tournament will feature the top 10 teams in the final regular season standings. Two first round matches, hosted by the seventh and eighth seeds, will be played Thursday, Oct. 26, before the quarterfinals hosted by the top four seeds are held Saturday, Oct. 28.

The semifinals are scheduled for Halloween Tuesday, Oct. 31, followed by the championship match at the highest remaining seed Saturday, Nov. 4. In 2022, fourth seed University of Saint Joseph upset top seed Saint Joseph's College in the semifinals, 2-0, and second seed Johnson and Wales in the title match, 2-1, to win the GNAC Men's Soccer Championship and earn the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.

Regis College is looking to bounce back from a 2022 campaign in which it won only four matches overall and failed to qualify for the GNAC Tournament.

Men's soccer is one of the intercollegiate sports sponsored by Regis College within NCAA Division III as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).
