Men’s Soccer Comes Up Short Against Rivier

WESTON, Mass - Regis College could not overcome a two-goal deficit, losing to Rivier University, 2-1, Wednesday night in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's soccer match at Regis Stadium.

Aidan Falvey (Medford, Mass.) scored the only Pride goal in the 68th minute of play. He received a long pass from Archie Bonga (Providence, R.I.) before creating his own shot by beating a Rivier defender and scoring to cut the lead in half.

The Raiders scored early, taking a one-goal lead in the seventh minute of play when Jason Harlow received a long pass from Jonathan Rudy, allowing him to get past the Regis defenders and score the first goal of the contest. Harlow scored again at the beginning of the second half off a penalty kick that found the right side of the net to give Rivier a 2-0 lead.

Despite the loss, Regis outshot the visitors by a margin of 18-5 while forcing seven corner kick opportunities compared to only three for Rivier.

Freddie Beckmann (Franklin, Mass.) made two saves in goal for the Pride while Dominic Cunha made seven saves for the Raiders.

Regis College (4-9-1, 1-7-1 GNAC) returns to Regis Stadium for Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 15, to take on Emmanuel at 1:00 p.m. Rivier plays on the same day in a road matchup against Elms College.
