Men's Soccer Eliminated from GNAC Tournament by JWU

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –  On a rainy Saturday night, Regis College lost to Johnson & Wales, 4-0, in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Soccer Tournament quarterfinals at Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex.

Johnson & Wales took the lead in the first half when senior Kevin Reilly scored the first goal of the contest on an unassisted shot. The Wildcats would score again less than four minutes later when senior Nick Gutekunst connected with fellow senior JP Rioux to give Johnson & Wales a 2-0 halftime advantage.
 
The Wildcats would extend their lead in the second half of the competition thanks to a goal by Esteban Osorio off an assist from Ricky Africo. Conner Elliott capped off the scoring for the night, this time assisted by Osorio.
 
Johnson & Wales finished with 24 shots, led by Rioux with four, while the Pride were held to four shots, three of them coming from Zack Acciardo (Derry, N.H.). Jacob Friedman and Brandon Coder split time in net to earn the clean sheet for the Wildcats with Friedman making four saves, while Pride goalie Freddie Beckmann (Franklin, Mass.) finished with seven saves in the match.
 
With the loss, Regis College (7-8-2) sees its 2021 season come to a conclusion, while Johnson & Wales moves on to the semifinals of the GNAC Tournament.
