FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Regis College men's soccer team used a first half offensive explosion to down the Bulldogs of Dean College, 3-0, in a non-conference match Wednesday afternoon at Lippert Field.

Fabyanno Furbino (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) scored a pair of goals, while Ken Niyonzima (Dracut, Mass.) had a goal and an assist in the match. Jared Barroso (Central Falls, R.I.) also picked up an assist.

The first chance of the match came off the foot of Santiago Pedraza Novak (Bogata, Colombia) when he collected a pass left of the net and fired towards the bottom right corner, but Dean goalkeeper Bryce Antoch was just able to collect the ball while diving to his left. Furbino followed a few minutes later with a shot that went just above the crossbar.

Regis broke through in the 12th minute when Furbino was on the receiving end of a through ball from Niyonzima. Furbino then made a move around the goalkeeper, firing the ball into the back of the net giving the Pride a 1-0 lead.

Just under 12 minutes later, Furbino scored a second time after recovering a blocked shot by Niyonzima, increasing the Pride lead to two.

Niyonzima scored 1:31 later after Barroso found a hole in the defense and sent a through ball that connected with Niyonzima. Niyonzima then made a touch around the goalkeeper and fired into the center of the net.

The Pride controlled the match from the start, holding possession for most of the match. Antoch made 11 saves while facing 14 Pride shots, while Freddie Beckmann (Franklin, Mass.) saved the lone Bulldog shot he faced in the match. Regis had seven corner kicks in the match while Dean did not earn a single corner attempt.

Dean (3-4, 0-0 NECC) begins conference play on Saturday, Sept. 28 when they take on Lesley.

Regis (2-4, 0-1 GNAC) play Emmanuel in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match starting at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 during Regis Fest. They will then play their second consecutive GNAC opponent on Thursday, Oct. 3, when Saint Joseph's College of Maine comes to Weston.
