Regis Men’s Soccer Schedule Set for 2019 Season

WESTON, Mass. – Coming off its fourth straight winning season, including its second consecutive appearance in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament, the Regis College men's soccer team will play nine home contests as part of a 17-match slate for the 2019 season.

The Pride open the season with a home contest Friday afternoon, Aug. 30, against Lesley University, a team they defeated in overtime to start the 2018 campaign, 1-0. After a road match at Emerson Saturday afternoon, Sept. 7, Regis will host nearby school Babson the following Saturday, Sept. 14, beginning at 3 p.m.

A three-match road swing takes Regis to New England College Tuesday, Sept. 17, to Colby-Sawyer for its GNAC opener Saturday, Sept. 21, and to future league rival Dean College Wednesday, Sept. 25. As part of Regis Fest, the Pride will host Emmanuel Saturday, Sept. 28, at 1:30 p.m., followed by another home match Wednesday, Oct. 2, against Saint Joseph's College, the defending GNAC champion and ranked 19th in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll.

The Pride once again play three straight road matches starting Saturday, Oct. 5, at Anna Maria, followed by contests at Albertus Magnus Wednesday, Oct. 9, and at Suffolk Saturday, Oct. 12. Regis will spend the vast majority of the regular season homestretch at Regis Stadium with five of the final six matches at home, starting on Columbus Day against Pine Manor.

Regis' busiest week of the season continues Wednesday, Oct. 16, against Lasell, followed by a visit from Rivier Saturday, Oct. 19. The Pride will host the University of St. Joseph Wednesday, Oct. 23, and then travel to Vermont to take on Norwich Saturday, Oct. 26, before closing the regular season at home against Johnson & Wales Wednesday, Oct. 30.

The top eight teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the GNAC Tournament, with the top four seeds hosting quarterfinal matches Saturday, Nov. 2. The semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 6, followed by the championship match Saturday, Nov. 9.

Regis College posted an 8-6-2 overall record in 2018, including a 4-5-2 mark within the GNAC. The Pride finished in a tie for seventh place in the league standings and lost to Johnson & Wales, 1-0, in the quarterfinals of the 2018 GNAC Tournament.
