Men's Soccer Dominates Lasell In GNAC Action

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) men's soccer team delivered its highest scoring output of the season, beating Lasell College 5-2 Saturday at Regis Stadium.

Regis (7-3, 4-1 GNAC) took control from the start, as Armando Lezama (Salem, Mass.) headed in a corner from Litchie Barbosa (Boston, Mass.) in the 7th minute.

Barbosa along with Devin Brady (Springfield, Vt.) and Ken Niyonzima (Burlington, Mass.) would each score in the span of five minutes, taking a 4-0 lead in the 16th minute. Regis outshot Lasell 24-17 in the conference victory, including 12-9 in the first half.

The Pride would continue to dominate possession in the second half, and in the 60th minute Derek Triana (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) gave Regis a 5-0 lead on a cross from the left corner.

Kenan Omerbasic (Windsor Locks, Conn.) put the Lasers (2-8, 1-3 GNAC) on the board in the 74th minute on a penalty kick. In the 88th minute Connor Wall (East Hampton, Conn.) cut the Pride lead to 5-2 off an unassisted goal from the top of the box.

All three Lasell goalkeepers saw action, with Matteo Cugno (Medford, Mass.) leading the charge with six saves in 49 minutes of work. Jaret Petrie (Milford, Conn.) and Jackson Burhans (Berlin, N.Y.) contributed three and one saves respectively.

Jesse Bonilla (Ramona, Calif. ) got the win for the Pride, recording six saves in 63 minutes, and Andrew Barros (Malden, Mass.) adding three saves to close out the victory.

Regis next hosts GNAC foe St. Joseph's (Me.) on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 4:00 p.m..Lasell returns to action on Monday Oct. 2 travelling to non-conference foe Westfield State.
