Regis Men's Soccer Selected Fifth in NECC Preseason Poll

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) men’s soccer team has been chosen to finish fifth in the NECC Preseason Poll, as voted on by the nine head coaches from within the conference.

The two-time defending NECC champions from Daniel Webster College topped the poll with 80 points and taking eight of a possible nine first-place votes. In second was Newbury (61), followed by Elms (59), Mitchell (53), Regis (50), Lesley (47), Southern Vermont (26), Becker (19) and Wheelock (10).

The Pride will be led by senior goalkeeper Manny Santiago (Bristol, Conn.), who with 20 career wins, already holds the program record for goalkeeping victories. The team also returns its two leading scorers from a year ago, sophomore midfielder Derek Triana (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) and junior forward Brendan Plasczynski (Bristol, Conn.).

Regis opens up its 2016 when it hosts Albertus Magnus College on Thursday, Sept. 1. Kick-off from Regis Stadium is set for 4:00 p.m.
