WESTON, Mass. – It was a tale of two halves for the Regis (Mass.) men's soccer team. The Pride failed to score in a dominating first half but saw Elms sneak in a late second half goal in a 1-0 loss Saturday on Senior Day at Regis Stadium on the final day of the New England Collegiate Conference season.

The loss eliminates any chance of Regis (10-7-1, 5-2-1 NECC) claiming the No. 1 seed heading into next week's NECC Tournament. Elms closes the regular season at 4-3-1 in the NECC and 4-13-1 overall and will open NECC tourney play on the road.

Regis had the lions share of chances on goal in the first half. Derek Triana (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) had several excellent opportunities to put the Pride up but just couldn't find the back of the net. A Dillon Lanctot (Somersworth, N.H.) through ball led to back-to-back to back chances, the first a point blank shot saved by Blazer keeper Tyler Graves (Monson, Mass.).

Triana again had a chance to put Regis on the board in the 22nd minute. Left open on the far side, he volleyed a Venegas corner kick on net but right to Graves' hands. Minutes later Lanctot was played into the box, striking a shot that skidded just outside the far post.

Elms began to get at the Pride defense late in the half. Donald Whittle (Somers, Conn.) had a bid on a corner kick then later got behind the Regis defense. Pride keeper Manny Santiago (Bristol, Conn.) was equal to task though, coming out of the penalty area to clear the ball away.

Santiago was called into action early in the second half. Whittle got behind the Pride defense but Santiago foiled back-to-back shots to keep the scoresheet clean.

Elms continued to dominate for much of second half before finally breaking through with just under 13 minutes to play. Whittle, after forcing Santiago to make a stellar far post save, received a pass on the left flank and centered it to the foot of Scott Labrie (Southhampton, Mass.) who finished past Santiago.

The Pride a chance for a late equalizer when they earned a free kick outside the Blazer penalty area. Litchie Barbosa (Boston, Mass.) played a diagonal ball in to Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.) whose point blank shot was saved by Graves.

Santiago with finished with eight saves and Graves posted seven saves in the winning effort.
