Men's Soccer Upends Becker, Stays Unbeaten in NECC

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) men's soccer team stayed perfect at home Wednesday afternoon, picking up their sixth straight Regis Stadium victory in a 4-0 win over Becker College.

With the win, the Pride improves to 8-4-1 on the season (3-0-1 NECC), while the Hawks fall to 1-11-1 (1-3 NECC) with the loss.

Regis senior Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.) open the scoring for the Pride in the 29th minute when he tapped home his fourth goal of the season off a feed from Don Gomez (Lynn, Mass.). After Becker goalkeeper Devin Ramos (Warwick, R.I.) charged out to cut down the angle on Gomez, the senior crossed the ball to his classmate Sindoni, who finished the layup goal.

Pride senior Daniel Calderone (Wellesley, Mass.) netted his first goal of the season just five minutes late to stretch the Pride lead to two. Calderone's goal came off an assist from Derek Triana (Port St. Lucie, Fla.), giving the Pride the 2-0, which they took into halftime.

Gomez and junior Jefferson Lorimer (Lynn, Mass.) added late insurance tallies in the final six minutes to secure the Pride's victory. Litchie Barbosa (Boston, Mass.) and Ken Niyonzima (Burlington, Mass.) assisted on the late markers.

Regis goalkeeper Manny Santiago (Bristol, Conn.) was credited with the win, turning away all four shots he faced. Gabriel Monteleagre (Managua, Nicaragua) and Andrew Barros (Malden, Mass.) split the final 15 minutes in relief of Santiago to preserve the shutout. For Becker, Ramos made six saves in his team's losing effort.

Up next, the Pride will host Southern Vermont as part of Regisfest on Saturday, while Becker will take on Mitchell the same day in their next matchup.
