Men's Soccer Tops Emerson to Stay Perfect at Home

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) men's soccer team remained perfect at home on Wednesday afternoon, beating the Emerson College Lions by a score of 3-0.

With the win, the Pride improves to 6-4 on the season, including a perfect 5-0 at Regis Stadium. The Lions fall to 2-6 on the season with their loss.

Regis sophomore midfielder Derek Triana (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) opened the scoring for the Pride in the 17th minute. Rookie Grayson Owens (Marshfield, Mass.) found Triana cutting past the defender, who was able to stay onside before scoring on a breakaway.

Triana was not yet done, however, as he found the back of the net again just four and a half minutes later. The sophomore received a perfect feed from senior Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.), and he was easily able to volley it over the outstretched arms of Emerson goalkeeper Malachi McDonald (Rockville, Md.) to give the Pride the 2-0 lead. The goal was Triana's team-leading fourth goal of the season.

Sindoni added an insurance marker, his second goal of the season, in the 66th minute. On a slick passing play, Litchie Barbosa (Boston, Mass.) fed Sindoni the ball at the top of the box, before the senior ripped a shot into the bottom righthand corner of the net to stretch the Pride lead to three.

Manny Santiago (Bristol, Conn.) was credited with the win, making three saves in just over 67 minutes of action. Gabriel Montealegre (Managua, Nicaragua) and Andrew Barros (Malden, Mass.) each made one save in relief for the Pride, earning the combined shutout. McDonald was charged with the loss for the Lions, making two saves on the afternoon. Connor Dane (Quincy, Mass.) relieved McDonald in the second half, and also tallied two saves.

Next up for Regis, they'll host Newbury College in an NECC matchup on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. The Lions return to the pitch the same day, hosting WPI at 1:00 p.m.
