Men's Soccer Falls to Pilgrims 3-0

HENNIKER, N.H. - The Regis (Mass.) men's soccer team conceded three quick first half goals on Wednesday afternoon and were unable to recover, falling to New England College by a score of 3-0.

With the win the Pilgrims improve to 3-1-0 on the season, while the loss evens the Pride overall recorded at 2-2-0.

New England College starting the scoring at the 14:58 mark as Miguel Argueta would notch his second goal of the season heading in a pass up the field from Conor Douglass. The Pilgrims would strike again just 44 seconds later as Cooper Valinski would get a foot on a ball that would bounce around in the box and in.  The Pilgrims would tack on an additional goal in the opening half as Ronsard Masamba would convert on a penalty kick in the 29th minute putting NEC up 3-0 heading into the intermission.

Neither team would muster a score in the second half as the Pilgrims finished the game out shooting the Pride 18-10.

Seeing the bulk of the time in net for Regis was Manny Santiago (Bristol, Conn.) who recorded four saves. Picking up the shutout win in goal for NEC was Dylan Mix who finished the afternoon with five saves.

After a busy stretch that saw the Pride play four games in seven days, the team will receive hard-earned rest, as they do not return to the pitch until the host Lasell next Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 4:00 p.m. The Pilgrims next take on Daniel Webster College on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
