MEN’S SOCCER GRABS #5 SEED, TRAVELS TO MITCHELL

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College has earned the No. 5 seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Tournament and will travel to No. 4 Mitchell College on Wednesday.

The Pride (8-10, 4-3 NECC) defeated Mitchell (9-9-1, 4-3 NECC) 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in their only meeting of the season. Don Gomez (Lynn, Mass.) and Brendan Plasczynski (Bristol, Conn.) scored the goals for Regis, with Manny Calderon (Bristol, Conn.) recording five saves in the win.

Regis enters the tournament having won four-straight matches, outscoring opponents 22-1 during the streak. Mitchell has dropped two-straight, falling at Lesley and to Regis.

Top-seeded Elms, and No. 2 seed Daniel Webster have earned First Round byes. The other First Round matchup features No. 6 seed Newbury travelling to Lesley University on Wednesday. The winner of the Regis-Mitchell matchup will travel to Elms on Friday, November 7, while the winner of Lesley-Newbury will travel to Daniel Webster that same date.

The NECC Championship is scheduled for Sunday, November 9 at the highest remaining seed.
