REGIS CRUISES TO 11-1 WIN OVER WHEELOCK

WESTON, Mass. – Nine different players registered at least one point as Regis College defeated Wheelock College, 11-1, on Wednesday night in men's soccer action. The Pride improve to 6-10 on the year, while Wheelock falls to 0-11.

The Pride scored the first 10 goals of the game to jump out to an early lead and never looked back. Graham Sutherland (North Kingstown, R.I.) got the scoring started and then assisted on the next goal scored by Dillon Lanctot (Somersworth, N.H.). Lanctot picked up assists on the next two goals scored by Brendan Plasczynski (Bristol, Conn.).

Don Gomez (Lynn, Mass.) entered the scoring column one minute later, and then assisted on another Plasczynski goal for the hat-trick. Gomez added his second of the game in the 33rd minute. Senior Larry Bolduc (Lynn, Mass.) scored his first two career goals in the first half, on assists from Devin Brady (Springfield, Vt.) and Jefferson Lorimer (Lynn, Mass.). Lorimer rounded out the scoring in the first period for Regis with a goal in the 40th minute.

Wheelock entered the scoring column with less than a minute to play in the first half. After a Regis foul, the Wildcats were awarded a free kick, and Rafael Pessah-Kirsch (Mexico City, Mexico) played the ball to the top of the box and off the head of Patrick Alfama (Brockton, Mass.). The ball went over the head of the Regis keeper and into the back of the net for Alfama's first goal of the year.

Regis added one more tally in the second half as Nana Kwarteng (Milford, Mass.) scored on a cross from Mike Panagiotakos (Methuen, Mass.). Wheelock's Alex Eager (Milford, Conn.) played the entire second half, making five saves and holding the Pride offense at bay.

The Pride held a 32-5 advantage in shots and also took all six corner kicks in the game. Manny Calderon (Bristol, Conn.) made one save in net to grab his third win of the season. Sunshine Shearer (English Harbour, Antigua) made three saves in the setback.

Regis returns to the pitch on Saturday afternoon for a 2:30 p.m. matchup with Southern Vermont College in NECC action. The Pride will honor their two seniors in Larry Bolduc and Nana Kwarteng in a ceremony before the game. Wheelock wraps up its season on November 2 with a 1:00 p.m. game against Lesley University.
