NEISWANGER NETS CAREER GOAL #1, PRIDE FALL TO NEC

HENNIKER, N.H. - Regis College's Chandler Neiswanger (Roy, Utah) recorded his first career goal in the first half, but New England College scored a pair of goals in the second period to slip past the Pride, 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action. With the win the Pilgrims even their overall record at 2-2-0, while the loss drops the Pride to 1-3-0 on the season.

Regis would start the scoring in the 23rd minute of play as Fernando Tome (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) would strike a free-kick that Collin Thurston (Temecula, Calif.) would get a foot on and pass to Neiswanger (Roy, Utah), who would notch his first collegiate goal.

The two teams would battle through the remainder of the opening half scoreless as the Pilgrims would have several opportunities, including a header by Sebastian Andersson (Sundyberg, Sweden) in the final seconds of the half that would be turned away by Pride keeper Greg Koutroukas (Watertown, Mass.).

NEC would get the equalizer just two minutes into the second half as sophomore midfielder Rizy Misiri (Concord, N.H.) would dribble around two defenders and beat the Regis keeper netting the unassisted goal.

The Pilgrims would take the 2-1 lead in the 76th minute of play as sophomore Ronsard Masamba (Haverhill, Mass.) would turn on a Pride defender, netting his first goal of the season assisted by Sebastian Andersson. The Pilgrim defense would hold strong late in the game holding the Pride to no second half shots.

NEC finished the game out shooting Regis College 16-3 and hold the 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Picking up the win in net for NEC was Mark Nowak (Newburgh, N.Y.) who finished with two saves. Splitting time in net for Regis was Greg Koutroukas (Watertown, Mass.) who notched four saves, while Manny Calderon (Bristol, Conn.) stopped four Pilgrim shots.

NEC returns to action on Saturday, September 13 when they host non-conference opponent Elms College at noon. Regis will hit the field again Saturday, September 13 when they travel to take on non-conference opponent Rhode Island College.
