WESTON, Mass. – Riding a five game winning streak, the Regis College men's soccer team has earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Tournament. The Pride (7-8-2, 4-2-1 NECC) will host fifth seeded Lesley University (8-7-2, 3-3-1 NECC) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
The game will be a rematch of the 2012 NECC Semifinals, in which Lesley narrowly escaped with a 1-0 victory over the Pride after scoring in the 83rd minute of play.
Earlier this season, the Pride and Lynx played to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 28. After falling behind in the 33rd minute, Regis responded with a goal by freshman Marek Kotecki (Milton, Mass.) off an assist by Alex Caliendo (Windsor, Conn.) in the 47th minute to knot the contest at one apiece.
The winner of the Regis and Lesley contest will travel to take on No. 1 seeded Elms College (9-8, 5-2 NECC) on Friday. The Blazers, who are the reigning NECC Champions, defeated the Pride, 3-0 earlier this season.
