WESTON, Mass. – Freshman goalkeeper Manny Calderon (Bristol, Conn.) of the Regis College men's soccer team has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league's offices on Monday morning.

After earning his third career start on Wednesday night, Calderon made seven saves to help the Pride capture their first shutout of the year in a 1-0 victory over Fitchburg State. The rookie now has 35 saves on the year and a .814 save percentage, which ranks second among NECC goalkeepers.

Calderon and the men's soccer team will be back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 2 as they host Suffolk for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game on the turf at Regis Stadium.
