WESTON, Mass. – Led by sophomore midfielder Camilo Estrada's (Pawtucket, R.I.) hat trick, the visiting Anchormen of Rhode Island College sailed to a 5-1 victory over Regis College in non-conference men's soccer on Saturday afternoon at Regis Stadium. The loss drops the Pride to 1-5 on the season, while RIC improves to 3-1-2 with the win.

The visitors wasted little time to get on the scoreboard, as sophomore Kevin Arboleda (Pawtucket, R.I.) scored the opening goal in the eighth minute of play. Classmate Sean Grant (Hope, R.I.) beat a Pride defender down the right side of the field and crossed the ball to an open Arboleda. As he was approached by another defender and goalkeeper Manny Calderon (Bristol, Conn.), Arboleda touched to his right and placed the ball into the back of the net for an early lead.

The Pride would even the score at about the midway point of the first half. Moments after Graham Sutherland (North Kingstown, R.I.) had a shot attempt turned away by Anchormen keeper Douglas Morgan (Landing, N.J.), Regis was awarded a throw in. Senior Alex Caliendo (Windsor, Conn.) threw a long ball onto the back post, where freshman Marek Kotecki (Milton, Mass.) was able to head the ball into the upper right corner for the 1-1 tie.

Unfortunately for the Pride, the tie was short-lived, as Emmanuel Asiedu (Lincoln, R.I.) connected with Kwasi Boateng (East Hartford, Conn.) on a corner kick less than three minutes later. Boateng one-timed Asiedu's cross into the net for his second goal of the season.

Estrada would score his first goal of the game after beating a Regis defender and going one-on-one with Calderon to put his team up, 3-1 just before the half came to a close.

The second half proved to be much of the same story, as RIC continued to build on their lead while the Pride struggled to generate much offense. Estrada added his second tally of the day at the 49:54 mark. In similar fashion to his first goal, the sophomore beat his defender and struck a low, hard shot for the three goal cushion.

Estrada notched the hat trick in the 65th minute after poking the ball away from his opponent and walking in on a breakaway. He tucked the ball just inside the right side netting for the final 5-1 score.

Calderon finished with six saves for the Crimson & Gold, while Morgan made three stops for the Anchormen to get the win in goal. Sutherland and Kotecki each registered two shots in the game to lead the Pride.

Both squads will be back in action next Wednesday, Sept. 18. RIC hosts Bridgewater State at 6:00 p.m., while Regis travels to Anna Maria for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference tilt.
