NIGHTHAWKS EDGE PRIDE, 1-0

WESTON, Mass. – Newbury College's Shaundize Moosavizadeh (Winchester, Mass.) scored the lone goal of the game in the fourth minute of action as the Nighthawks defeated Regis College, 1-0, on Thursday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference action. The Pride drops to 6-9 overall and 2-4 in the NECC while Newbury improves to 3-6 overall and a perfect 3-0 in the league.

Coming off scoring the game-winning goal in overtime against Becker College on October 8th, Moosavizadeh wasted no time in getting Newbury on the scoreboard first. Freshman attacker Rodriquez Pierre (Somerville, Mass.) found the Nighthawks leading scorer at midfield and Moosavizadeh was on his way. Deeking out a Pride defender, Moosavizadeh registered his fifth goal of the season four minutes into the contest.

It was a tough and physical battle for the entire 90 minutes. Led by Pride senior Shawn McDonough's (Darmstedt, Germany) two late shots-on-goal, Regis was not going away and sparked a late game rally. But Newbury senior goalkeeper William McNally (Grafton, Mass.) was stoic in net making several remarkable saves to preserve the shut-out for the Nighthawks.

Regis looks to snap a two game skid when the Pride steps out of conference play and travels to Worcester, Mass. to take on Clark University on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. Newbury returns to the pitch this weekend looking to remain perfect in the NECC against Mitchell College on the road in New London, Conn. at 2:00 p.m.
