THONGSYTHAVONG, MCDONOUGH, AND GUYETTE READY FOR 2011 SEASON

WESTON, Mass. ---Regis College Men's soccer captains Shawn McDonough (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) and Ricky Guyette (Medway, Mass./Medway) are looking forward to a successful upcoming season in the fall of 2011.

Regis College Athletics will be moving from the Commonwealth Coastal Conference (TCCC) to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) this year. Both McDonough and Guyette are excited to face off against new conference opponents for more competitive play.

"This is our year," says McDonough. With eleven returning starters, some improving players, and key additions the men's soccer team has the goal of winning the NECC tournament this year.

McDonough and Guyette have been around since the start of the men's soccer program in 2008 and share a lot of memorable games together.  Their most enticing game was against Lesley University last season. Regis fell short in double overtime, a loss they would like to have back. This will make for a great conference matchup this upcoming season on Senior Night (10/22/11).

Regis College has yet to announce who the head men's soccer coach will be for the 2011 season but both captains are looking forward to a change.

"A good balance of something different combined with what we are use to will be good," says Guyette.

McDonough has been plagued by injuries which limited him to only participate in ten contests last season. He looks to come back strong to finish out his senior year successfully. Guyette appeared in all 18 games last season and is eager to get started on his final year as well.

Along with McDonough and Guyette, Wade Thongsythavong (Salem, Mass./Salem) will also partake in a leadership role as a senior captain. All three captains are enthusiastic about what they believe their team can accomplish this upcoming fall season.
