PRIDE TAMED BY LEOPARDS FALL 2-1

Weston, Mass.--- The Regis College men's soccer team was defeated by Wentworth College Saturday (Oct. 2) by the score of 2-1.  The Pride moves to 3-7-1 overall on the season and 0-5-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Leopards improve to 5-5 overall on the season and 3-3 in TCCC play.

Leading the Pride on defense was freshman goalkeeper Ryne Tillman (Bedford, Mass. /Bridgeton Academy) who kept the Leopards scoreless in the first period. Freshman Chris Millington (Huntington, NY/St. Anthony's) was able to penetrate the Leopard defense and beat  goalkeeper John Longo (Needham, Mass./Needham) one on one for the game's first goal. The Pride entered halftime with a 1-0 lead on the visiting Leopards.

The second half was opened up by the Leopards who tallied their first goal of the game by freshman John Golden (Whitman, Mass. /Cardinal Spellman).  Golden was able to direct a pass from Ben Nasman (Lenox, Mass. /Lenox Memorial) past the Pride's Tillman and find the back of the next.  Both teams continued to jockey for ball control in the second period.  Late in the second period Golden was able to intercept a pass from fellow teammate PJ Platner (Northford, Conn. /North Branford) and hit the back of the net. Making the score 2-1 in favor of the Leopards. The Pride continued to push the ball into the Leopards offensive zone, but could not score in the final remaining minutes.

The Pride is set to play Friday (Oct. 5) against Anna Maria College.
