SEAHAWKS DEFEAT PRIDE 5-0

NEWPORT, R.I. – Five different Sale Regina Seahawks scored goals in their 5-0 win over Regis (Mass.) College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) men's soccer match Saturday afternoon at Reynolds Field.The win runs the Seahawks (6-2) win streak to six and keeps them tied for first-place in the conference at 4-0. The Pride, meanwhile, slipped to 3-5-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the conference.

Junior Max Starace (Fort Lee, N.J.) netted his first goal of the season at 5:36 to give the Seahawks a 1-0 lead. Classmate Sean McAllister (North Arlington, N.J.) – who finished with a pair of assists – fired a shot that was stopped by Regis freshman keeper Ryne Tillman (Bedford, Mass.), and Starace kicked in the rebound.

Senior tri-captain Ken Johnson (Colonia, N.J.) potted his sixth of the season at 38:39 to stretch the lead to 2-0 entering halftime and he polished off a cross from McAllister.

Junior Chris Knoth (East Islip, N.Y.) got on the board with his third of the season at 52:58 to make it 3-0 in favor of the Seahawks, and markers by sophomores Jacob Brigandi (Vernon, Conn.) at 66:57 and Pat Vierengel (Armonk, N.J.) at 74:24 capped the scoring.

The Seahawks outshot the Pride 32-4 and held a 7-1 edge in corners. Sophomore Devin O'Gorman (Canton, Mass.) finished with two saves to earn the win while Tillman recorded 16 saves.

The Seahawks return to action on Tuesday when they host Nichols at 4 p.m. at Reynolds Field. The Pride hosts Western New England on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
