PRIDE FALLS TO GOLDEN BEARS IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

Weston, Mass. ---The Regis College men's soccer team was defeated by Western New England College Wednesday (Sept. 29) by the score of 1-0. The Pride moves to 3-6-1 overall and are 0-4-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The visiting Golden Bears move to 6-4-1 overall and are 4-0-1 in TCCC.

The Pride was led by goalkeeper Ryne Tillman (Bedford, Mass. /Bridgeton Academy) who had an outstanding performance in goal by keeping the Golden Bears scoreless throughout regulation.  The Golden Bears out shot the Pride 21-4 but could not score in until the second overtime period.  The Pride's defense stayed strong with key performances by Wade Thongsythavong (Salem, Mass. /Salem) and Ricky Guyette (Medway, Mass. /Medway). The strong defensive effort by the Pride forced the game into an overtime period. The first overtime period ended with a 0-0 tie. 

In the second overtime both teams continued to battle for ball control. The Golden bears were able to settle their offense and get off a few shots. Scoring in the second overtime for the Golden Bears was Kevin Parma (Peconic, NY.)  who was able to direct a pass from teammate Alex Rosario (Chicopee, Mass.) past the Pride defenders and into the net.

The Pride will play their next game against Wentworth Saturday (Oct. 2) at 4:00 pm.

The Golden Bears are scheduled to compete against The University of New England Saturday (Oct. 2) at 11:00 am.
