REGIS DEFEATED GORDON IN 2009, THE PRIDE LOOK TO DO IT AGAIN

WESTON, Mass.—Regis College men's soccer will enter its fourth game of the season Saturday, and it also marks the first conference game of 2010 for the Pride. Regis College (2-1) looks to stay above .500 when it hosts Gordon College (1-2).

The Pride's freshmen have stepped us the go-to scorers on the team. Four different first-year players have a goal in 2010. Lance Okey (Oregon, Ohio/Clay) scored the first goal of the season, while teammate Ibriham Alpha (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) has the only game winning score.

Angel Aguilar (Silver Spring, Md./James Hubert Blake) has also marked a score in the books against Wheelock in a 3-0 victory for Regis. Another freshman to tally points in that game was Chris Millington (Huntington, NY/St. Anthony's).

Gordon has struggled to put the ball in the net, but credit must be given to the Scots defense. In its three games, Gordon did not give up more than one goal in its two loses.

Gordon's Matt Horth has registered 12 shots against his opponents, with a bulk of those coming in the Scots 1-0 win when he took seven shots. His score came off a penalty kick at 16:54, and neither team registered a shot after that.

That is more than 74 minutes without a team scoring another goals. That is a stingy, and talented defense. There is nothing outstanding about the Gordon team. Its roster carries experience, new players, and athletes in between.

Something that must be noted is that Regis defeated Gordon 2-1 in 2009. A repeat performance by the Pride would surely be a mark of improvement, and a starting point for a rivalry for Gordon.

This game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start Saturday (Sept. 11).
