Jamir Harvey Named GNAC Rookie of Week for Second Time

WINTHROP, Mass. - For the second time this season, first-year forward Jamir Harvey (Robbins, Ill.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week as announced Monday night, Dec. 12, by the league office.

Last Wednesday, Harvey played 21 minutes off the bench for the Pride, scoring 11 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field, plus he pulled down five rebounds and blocked two shots in Regis' 76-67 victory over Johnson and Wales. Harvey scored nine of those 11 points in the second half to help the Pride hold off a Wildcat comeback attempt.

Saturday at Worcester State, Harvey notched his third straight double-digit scoring game with 12 points, once again shooting 5-for-9 from the field, including a perfect 2-for-2 from behind the three-point line. Scoring 10 of the 12 points in the first half to help the Pride establish a seven-point halftime lead, he also finished with three rebounds, two assists, and two steals against the Lancers.

Averaging 11.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game, Harvey is currently fourth in the GNAC in field goal percentage at 58.4 percent and fifth in blocked shots with 1.3 blocks per game. Harvey previously received GNAC Rookie of the Week honors Nov. 14 after scoring 28 points, the most by a Regis player in a single game so far this season, on 13-for-17 field goal shooting against Hunter College Nov. 12.

Regis College (6-3, 2-0 GNAC) will begin 2023 with back-to-back conference road games at Rivier Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 5 p.m. and at Albertus Magnus Thursday, Jan. 5, at 7:30 p.m. The Pride will play its first home game of the new year Saturday, Jan. 7, against nationally ranked University of Saint Joseph starting at 3 p.m.
