WESTON, Mass. – Regis College freshman Sam Jean-Gilles (Melrose, Mass.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference's Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon. Jean-Gilles helped lead the Pride (11-15) to its third-straight NECC Semifinals appearance last week.

Sam Jean-Gilles averaged 10.5 points and 10 rebounds per game during the NECC Playoffs. Jean-Gilles had nine points and nine rebounds in an 80-72 win over Southern Vermont. In the Semifinals, Jean-Gilles had 12 points, 11 rebounds, and four steals in an 81-71 setback to top-seeded Elms.

The rookie finished the 2014 season averaging 13.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals per game and shot 47.8% from the field to lead the Pride. Jean-Gilles also led the Pride with eight double-doubles this year.
