DEVILS OUTLAST PRIDE AT TRINITY INVITATIONAL

HARTFORD, Conn. – Senior guard Mike Williamson (Piscataway, N.J.) scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham Devils to a 59-51 victory over the Regis College Pride in the opening round of the Trinity College Men's Basketball Holiday Invitational on Stan Ogrodnik Court in Oosting Gymnasium.

FDU-Florham improves to 3-6 and will play the McDaniel College Green Terror in the tournament finals tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. Regis falls to 0-9 and will take on the host Trinity College Bantams in the consolation game tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. McDaniel defeated Trinity, 70-53, in the other first round game this afternoon.

Trailing by a point with 3:42 left in the second half, FDU's Williamson scored nine of the game's last 15 points to lead the Devils past the Pride. The game was close throughout, and Regis took its final lead at 48-47 on a layup by sophomore guard Osanto Marc (Kissimmee, Fla.), but FDU-Florham tied it at 48-48 on a free throw by junior forward Will Green (Cranford, N.J.) 18 seconds later.

Williamson gave the Devils the lead for good on a jumper at the 1:53 mark, and made seven of 10 free throws down the stretch to seal the victory. Regis missed five of its final field goal attempts and recorded just two rebounds after taking its final lead.

Green led all rebounders with 10, all at the defensive end, and added seven points, while rookie guard Nick Acito (Midland Park, N.J.) added seven points, four boards, and four assists, and senior forward Derek Hall (Oak Ridge, N.J.) registered eight points and nine rebounds for the Devils, who won despite missing 12 of its 23 attempts from the charity stripe.

Marc paced the Pride with 19 points, eight boards, and three assists, while junior guard Ahmad Charles (Cambridge, Mass.) had 11 points and three steals, and sophomore Ethan Peana (Staten Island, N.Y.) grabbed a team-high nine boards and blocked three shots.
