VEGA NAMED TO ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM IN RESIDENCE INN GREENBELT CLASSIC

Weston, Mass.—Regis College senior Jesse Vega (Pawtucket, R.I.) earned an announcement to the Residence Inn Greenbelt Classic All-Tournament team over the weekend. Regis College competed in the tournament that was hosted by Catholic University.

Vega led the Pride to a 1-1 record during the two-day tournament. He played a crucial role in tying Regis’ first game versus FDU-Florham.

Vega stole the ball from a player driving to the lane with less than a minute remaining on the clock.

Down by two points at the time, Vega assisted teammate Ta’Keame Gomes (Cambridge, Mass.) to tie the game at 69-69. Gomes was fouled in the act of shooting, and sent to the free-throw line to shoot one. Making the basket, Regis took the game 70-69.

Vega finished his two days shooting better than 91 percent (20-of-22) from the free-throw line, and averaged 6.5 rebounds per game.

Vega posted his first double-double of the season, scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds Saturday.

Regis College lost to Catholic University Sunday 88-77, and will look to even its overall record Wednesday, Jan. 6 when it heads to Western Connecticut University.
