In 2024, Mary Nee enters her third full season at the helm of the Regis College field hockey program after taking over as head coach at the start of 2022.
Nee led the Pride to a berth in the 2023 GNAC Tournament, the team's first postseason appearance since 2019. Forward Frankie Alley earned Third Team All-GNAC honors after leading the squad with 13 goals and a program-record eight assists for 34 total points, second-most in a single season in Regis field hockey history.
Nee served as the assistant field hockey coach at Regis for the 2021 season, taking on the responsibility of on-field coaching during practices and matches upon a leadership change at the start of competition. She has also directed the recruitment of prospective student-athletes, monitored the academic progress of the field hockey players, and coordinated travel arrangements for away contests.
Besides her coaching experience at Regis, Nee is also a coach for Extreme Field Hockey, Inc., one of the top field hockey club programs, based in Canton, Mass. Nee has been part of the coaching staff at Extreme for five years, and she also was a coach with New England Strikers for two years.
Nee was a four-year letterwinner at Saint Anselm College, appearing in 84 matches, including 48 starts. Her first career point was an assist at Mercy during her freshman year Sept. 18, 2016. One year later, she scored her first career goal at St. Thomas Aquinas (Sept. 17, 2017) and made her first career start at Stonehill Oct. 24, 2017. As a senior, she collected six goals and six assists for 18 total points, featuring a two-goal performance at Franklin Pierce Oct. 29, 2019. Nee also scored the lone goal in Saint Anselm's 1-0 victory over Assumption in the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Tournament. As a team captain, she would help the Hawks win the NE-10 Championship and advance to the 2019 NCAA Division II national championship game, where she picked up an assist.
Nee graduated from Saint Anselm in the spring of 2020 with her bachelor's degree in psychology, plus she minored in sociology. She completed her master's degree in social work at Regis in May 2024.
