Regis Concludes Season with 5-0 Victory

PAXTON, Mass. – Regis College controlled the action throughout the night, pulling away from a 5-0 victory over Anna Maria, Wednesday night in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey match at Caparso Field.

After a scoreless first quarter, Regis struck just 39 seconds into the second quarter as Mariana Agahigian (Reading, Mass.) met Frankie Alley (Gardner, Mass.) for the first goal of the game. Regis continued with a penalty corner shot from Alley but could not get past Amcats defender Katelyn Melvin.

Just minutes before halftime, the Pride extended their lead with a goal by Alley after receiving a short pass from Ava Costello (North Easton, Mass.), increasing the lead with two. Less than one minute later, Alley sent a pass up the field to meet Agahigian to take a shot extending the lead to 3-0 heading into the fourth quarter.

Regis kept pressure in the fourth quarter with two additional goals from Alley assisted by Agahigian to finish with a final of 5-0.

Regis outshot Anna Maria 19-5 and led 7-5 in penalty corners.

Sarai Velez (Everett, Mass.) played all 60 minutes in net for the Pride making three saves off three shots, finishing the season with a shutout.

Alley led the Pride with four goals and one assist while Agahigian coined one goal and three assists.

Regis sees its season conclude with a 5-12 overall record, including a 4-8 mark within the GNAC.
