Regis Drops to Lasell, 3-0

NEWTON, Mass. – Regis College field hockey lost 3-0, to Lasell University in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Grellier Field.

The Lasers offense pressured the Pride at the start of the match taking two shots on goal. After taking a shot that was then saved by Sarai Velez (Everett, Mass.), Lasell found the back of the net with a goal from Alice Rourke to lead 1-0 into the second quarter.

The Pride were able to hold the Lasers scoreless in the second quarter, to trail behind by one heading into the second half.

Lasell drew a penalty corner in the start of the third quarter, giving the Lasers an offensive advantage. Lasell found the back of the net to increase their lead by two after Mara Boldy met Johanna Snyder with a pass to lead 2-0.

The Pride responded moments later with a penalty corner but could not push past the Lasers defense. After a corner and two consecutive shots for the Lasers, Lasell increased their advantage leading 3-0, with Adrianna Morse connecting with Rourke to score the third and final goal of the match.

Regis collected a couple of penalty corners in the final quarter, featuring a shot from Kailey Araujo (Acushnet, Mass.) but was unable to score, resulting in a 3-0 final.

Velez made eight saves on 11 shots on goal, while Courtney Tello made one save off one shot for the Lasers.

Regis (4-10, 3-6 GNAC) is scheduled to host New England College on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 7:00 p.m.

Lasell (8-7, 4-5 GNAC) is set to host Saint Joseph's College on Tuesday, Oct. 22, with a 5:00 p.m. start.
