Field Hockey Drops Non-Conference Matchup

WESTON, Mass. - Regis College battled Clark University throughout Monday's match, but the Cougars were able to prevail with a 4-2 victory over the Pride in a non-conference match at Regis Stadium.

Clark controlled the play early, taking their first shot just minutes into the match but could not find the back of the net. Regis gained offensive opportunity towards the end of the first quarter, drawing a penalty corner but was unable to push past the Cougars defense resulting in a scoreless first quarter.

The Cougars would score just over five minutes into the second quarter after threatening a shot on the Pride defense to find the back of the net leading 1-0. Clark extended their lead with two additional goals in the second quarter to lead with a three-goal advantage heading into the third quarter.

Clark scored their fourth and final goal in the third quarter off a penalty corner after Rachel Romain was met with a pass from Alison Kopec.

With just over two minutes elapsed into the final quarter, Mariana Agahigian (Reading, Mass.) found the back of the net for the first Pride goal of the match. After receiving the ball just past mid-field, Agahigian dodged multiple defenders to bring the ball into the circle, scoring on her first shot.

Offensive momentum intensified for the Pride in the final minutes of the game, holding possession in their offensive zone. After a penalty corner shot from Frankie Alley (Gardner, Mass.) had gone wide, Alley took another shot to score the second Pride goal of the match with less than a minute to spare, finishing with a final of 4-2.

Alley now holds the record for most career goals in the program's history with 33.
