Record-Setting Performance Leads Pride to Overtime Win

WESTON, Mass. - After becoming the all-time leading scorer in program history with her first goal of the match, senior Frankie Alley (Gardner, Mass.) scored early in overtime to give the Pride a 2-1 victory over Rivier University Wednesday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey match at Regis Stadium.

After Rivier held possession for the first two-and-a-half minutes of the first overtime period, Regis put together a counterattack as Kailey Araujo (Acushnet, Mass.) advanced the ball up the field. From the right side, she passed the ball across the arc to Alley, who made a move on the Raider goalie and found the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season and her third career game-winning tally.

Four-and-a-half minutes into the second quarter, Alley collected a loose ball close to the mouth of the net and converted a shot to give the Pride a 1-0 advantage. It would move her past Caitlin Connolly into first place on Regis' career points list. Alley's overtime goal improved her career point total to 78 points and tied her with Aineen Callahan for most career goals by a Regis player with 32.

Two minutes into the fourth quarter, Rivier drew their first penalty corner since the first period, and Chloe Sicard was able to redirect a pass from Hailey Morse into the net for the game-tying goal. Over the final six minutes of regulation, the Raiders drew eight more penalty corner opportunities, but the Pride prevented them from creating any significant scoring chances, with goalie Sarai Velez (Everett, Mass.) and defender Macie Mannone (Lunenburg, Mass.) earning one save each.

Velez finished the match with four saves as she earned her second victory of the season. Kylie Coupal was credited with three saves for the Raiders as Rivier outshot Regis, 11-6, led by Reilly Swislosky with four total shots.
