Regis Field Hockey Loses Non-Conference Road Match

MANSFIELD, Conn. – The Regis College field hockey team lost, 5-0, in a non-conference matchup against Eastern Connecticut State University on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the Mansfield Outdoor Athletic Complex.

The Warriors controlled the play early in the match, drawing two penalty corners within the first two minutes of the contest. Eastern Connecticut State would score their first goal 2:07 into the first quarter as Grace Barlage would earn a goal off an assist from Liz LaMarco. The Warriors were able to tack on two more goals just before finishing out the first quarter to lead by three goals.

In the second period, Katie Harrington scored her first goal of the season after receiving a pass up the field from Emma Sanson in the 21st minute. The Pride defense held the Warriors for the remainder of the quarter with no shots taken on goal to trail by four at the half.

The Pride held the Warriors to a scoreless third quarter with Sarai Velez (Everett, Mass.) making two saves in net during the period. Eastern Connecticut State found the back of the net just 35-seconds into the fourth quarter with Barlage picking up a pass from Kaylee Drobish.

Velez made a key save for the Pride after facing a penalty shot from the Warriors. Velez finished with 10 saves, while Kiana Webster finished with two saves for the Warriors.

Regis (1-1) is set to travel to face UMass Dartmouth on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 6:00 p.m. for another non-conference matchup.
