Regis Field Hockey Places Seven on NFHCA National Academic Squad

MANAHAWKIN, N.J. - The Regis College field hockey team is well-represented on the 2023 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Squad, as seven members of the 2023 roster have been selected as announced Wednesday, Feb. 14, by the national organization.

Leading the way for the Pride are seniors Olivia Bell (Poland, Maine), Chloe Grande (Topsfield, Mass.), Sarah Juskiewicz (Gorham, Maine), and Ashley Monteiro (Kingston, N.H.). Bell, Juskiewicz, and Monteiro have been selected for the third consecutive year, while Grande is receiving her second career placement on the squad.

Junior Gracie Marsh (Orange, Mass.) and sophomore Macie Mannone (Lunenburg, Mass.) have been named to the National Academic Squad for the second consecutive year. Salena Thongsouvanh (Killingly, Conn.), a first-year defender, performed exceptionally well in her first semester as a college student to earn a spot within the academic honor roll.

The NFHCA National Academic Squad program, sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, celebrates the academic excellence of undergraduate collegiate student-athletes. This prestigious recognition is bestowed upon individuals who have attained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher through the fall semester of the current academic year, and who have been nominated by their dedicated NFHCA member coaches.

In total, 1,783 student-athletes from 154 institutions earned a spot on the 2023 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. Included in those totals are 107 student-athletes from 11 programs within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).

During the 2023 season, Regis College finished eighth in the GNAC regular season standings with five conference victories and qualified for the GNAC Field Hockey Tournament for the first time since 2019.
