Regis Falls to Chargers, 3-0

NEW LONDON, N.H. – In a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup, the Regis College field hockey team lost to Colby-Sawyer College, 3-0.

Colby-Sawyer struck first towards the end of the first quarter. After a shot by Courtney Larson was saved by Allayna Martone (Elkridge, Md.), Larson converted on the rebound off a pass from Taylor Gaudette. Just 50 seconds into the second quarter, the Charger offense quickly made it into their offensive circle where Abby Olden received a pass from Sarah Babb for the second goal of the game.

The Pride were able to hold off the Chargers for most of the third quarter until they were able to increase their advantage in the last minute. After a shot from Gaudette had gone wide, a penalty stroke was called, and Claire Stroshine found the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

Regis saw some offensive opportunities in the fourth quarter with two shots from Frankie Alley (Gardner, Mass.). Martone had 13 saves in the match.

The Pride are scheduled to travel to Albertus Magnus for their next match on Friday. Oct. 20, starting at 7:00 p.m.
