Regis Defeats Blue Jays, 2-1

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College field hockey team secured a 2-1 victory against the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game on Saturday.

In the early stages of the match, Maya Tomko notched the first and only goal for the Blue Jays.

The Pride's offense gained momentum in the second quarter, as Frankie Alley (Gardner, Mass.) found the net just three minutes in, marking her ninth goal of the season. A little over seven minutes into the third quarter, Maddy Monier (Laconia, N.H.) capitalized on a pass from Alley, securing her second career goal, which also turned out to be her first career game-winner.

The Pride's defense held firm in the final quarter, with Sarai Velez (Everett, Mass.) making the final two of her four crucial saves.

Looking ahead, Regis is set to travel to New England College on Wednesday, Oct. 4, for their next Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup, with the game scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
