Alley Hat Trick Leads to Regis GNAC Victory

WESTON, Mass. – Behind a hat trick from junior Frankie Alley (Gardner, Mass.), Regis College picked up its first victory of the season with a 5-1 victory over Elms College Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey match at Regis Stadium.

Alley quickly took possession of the ball, raced up the field, and converted on a shot just 2:48 in the contest to give the Pride a 1-0 lead. Less than two minutes later, Alley was successful on another shot for her sixth goal of the season to increase the Regis advantage to 2-0.

Late in the second quarter, Sarah Juskiewicz (Gorham, Maine) sent a ball towards the Blazer net that was redirected into the goal by Alley to complete her hat trick. Elms broke through just 28 seconds later as Victoria Accorsi followed up a blocked shot by converting the rebound, bringing the Blazers back within two goals at halftime.

With just over one minute remaining in the third quarter, Alley found Gracie Marsh (Orange, Mass.) for her second goal of the season. Juskiewicz scored just over six minutes into the fourth quarter for her first tally of the season to complete the scoring.

Elms goalie Kaitlyn Lynes kept the Blazers within striking range by making 10 saves, plus she received help from her defense as Samantha Bonneau and Keira Stevens each earned a defensive save. Allayna Martone (Elkridge, Md.) picked up her first career collegiate victory in net for the Pride.

Regis College (1-7, 1-3 GNAC) plays its final non-conference match of the regular season at Mount Holyoke Thursday, Sept. 28, beginning at 6 p.m.
