NASHUA, N.H. - Regis College could not overcome an early deficit, as Rivier University scored four first period goals on its way to a 7-1 victory Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey match at Joanne Merrill Field.

Rivier (1-3, 1-2 GNAC) jumped on the board just over two minutes into the contest as Reilly Swislosky scored with Madison Streeter picking up the assist. With five minutes gone in the match, Sydney Spenard set up Chloe Sicard for the Raiders' second goal of the afternoon.

Spenard would earn her own tally exactly five minutes later, and then Madison Bovill scored late in the first quarter off an assist from Kayla Miles. Just over five minutes into the second period, Streeter would earn her own goal to extend the Rivier advantage to 5-0.

The Pride put together an offensive threat, with shots by Frankie Alley (Gardner, Mass.) and Ashley Monteiro (Kingston, N.H.) stopped by Raider goalie Kylie Coupal. Alley would find the ball after Monteiro's shot and convert on the scoring opportunity for her fourth goal of the season. Alley created another scoring chance late in the second quarter, but Rivier defender Erin McCormick made the save.

The play settled down in the second half as Rivier scored once in each quarter as Swislosky earned her second goal of the match in the third quarter and Spenard picked up her second tally of the day in the fourth quarter. The Raiders finished with 20 shots on goal while the Pride were held to six shots on goal.

Both teams switched goalies at halftime. Sarai Velez (Everett, Mass.) started for the Pride before Allayna Martone (Elkridge, Md.) took over for the second half and finished with 11 saves. After Coupal played the first 30 minutes for Rivier, Lily Gifford finished out the contest, with each Raider goalie earning two saves.

Regis College (0-6, 0-2 GNAC) hosts back-to-back matches next week, welcoming neighboring school Lasell Wednesday, Sept. 20, for a 7:30 p.m. start and Elms next Saturday, Sept. 23, beginning at 12 p.m.
