WESTON, Mass. – Regis College played a competitive match in its home opener Wednesday night, but Eastern Connecticut State University was able to prevail for a 3-1 victory in a non-conference match at Regis Stadium.

Eastern Connecticut took the lead three minutes into the match as Liz LaMarco scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Emma Sanson. At the end of an almost-scoreless second quarter, the Pride became an offensive threat, gaining momentum from an initial green card on Sanson. This created more offensive opportunity for the Pride as they were eventually granted with a penalty corner just two seconds before the half. Ashley Monteiro (Kingston, N.H.) found Frankie Alley (Gardner, Mass.) for the Pride's first goal of the season, tying the game.

In the third quarter, LaMarco had her second goal of the game, with an assist from Sanson, while Grace Barlage scored with 12 minutes remaining from a pass from LaMarco. LaMarco totaled three shots, with two reaching the back of the net.

Aside from scoring for the Pride, Alley created offensive movement by totaling four shots, with three on goal. Sarai Velez (Everett, Mass.) coined seven saves in today's match.

Regis College is set to travel to Clark University on Saturday, Sept. 9, for a non-conference match beginning at 12:00p.m.
