Field Hockey Defeated on Senior Day

WESTON, Mass. - Regis College was defeated, 4-0, by Simmons University Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference field hockey action on Senior Day at Regis Stadium.

The Pride's best chance to score came in the first quarter when Sarah Juskiewicz (Gorham, Maine) cut through the Sharks' defense and fired a shot on goal that forced goalie Sarah Arenberg to make a save.

Sydney Gonyea scored the first and last goals of the game for Simmons, with her first goal coming in the second quarter when she scored off the rebound of her previous shot attempt. Her second goal came with just over five minutes remaining in the match, this time assisted on the play by Anna Tedeschi.

The second Simmons goal was off a penalty corner opportunity where Tedeschi passed the ball into Haley Dover who scored to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead with 30 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

Zoe Schmaling scored the third goal for Simmons after collecting a stray ball in front of the net and scoring an unassisted goal to extend the visitor's lead to three goals.

Jocelyn White (Wilmington, Mass.) played the entire game in net for the Pride making nine saves while Arenberg made one save in the win for Simmons. The Sharks outshot the Pride by a margin of 24-5 and took 13 penalty corners compared to five for Regis.

Regis College (3-12, 3-7 GNAC) concludes regular season play with a conference matchup against Colby-Sawyer at Regis Stadium on Wednesday, Oct, 26, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Simmons University (13-2, 8-2 GNAC) finishes the regular season with a road game at Dean on the same day, starting at 3:00 p.m.
