Regis Field Hockey Loses at Lasell

NEWTON, Mass. – Regis College was unable to overcome an early deficit to Lasell University, as the Lasers defeated the Pride, 5-2, Wednesday evening in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey match at Grellier Field.

Lasell (9-6, 6-3 GNAC) struck first just over five minutes into the match as Sage Dodier scored off an assist from Sheridan Blaha. The two would team up again six minutes later, with Dodier setting up Blaha for the goal, followed by an unassisted tally from Lily Stark to increase the Laser lead to 3-0 heading into the second quarter.

Less than one minute into the second period, Chloe Grande (Topsfield, Mass.) would pick up her first goal of the season to put the Pride on the board. Stark would extend the Lasell advantage with two more goals later in the period before Morgan Pero (Hartford, Vt.) successfully completed a Regis penalty corner play with eight seconds left in the first half for her third goal of the season.

There was just one shot credited between the two teams in the third quarter before the offensive action picked up in the fourth quarter. However, both goalies were able to keep the ball out of their respective nets, as Lasell keeper Courtney Tello made three saves and Regis goalie Jocelyn White (Wilmington, Mass.) earned two saves in the final 15 minutes of action.

White finished with five saves, while Tello ended up with four saves as she picked up the victory. Lasell outshot Regis, 19-6, led by Stark with 10 total shots.

Regis College (3-11, 3-6 GNAC) plays its final two matches of the regular season at home, starting Saturday, Oct. 22, against Simmons University at 2 p.m. Before the match, Pero and Hannah Schneiderman (Manchester, N.H.) will be recognized in a Senior Day presentation.
