Regis Field Hockey Loses to GNAC-Leading Wildcats

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Regis College lost to Johnson and Wales University, 5-0, Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey match at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Complex.

The Wildcats broke through on the scoreboard just over two minutes into the second quarter as Margaret Johnson found Mei Tobin on a penalty corner for Tobin's second goal of the season. The home team increased its lead to 2-0 32 seconds before halftime on a goal by Darian Shepherd, assisted by Jillian Miele.

Miele would collected her 18th goal of the season early in the third quarter off an assist by Mackenzie Wolf. One minute into the fourth period, Miele and Haley Budenas would assist on a goal by Katie Sloan, and Zofia Bangs would earn the final goal of the match in the 52nd minute off an assist by Tobin.

Regis goalie Jocelyn White (Wilmington, Mass.) finished with a season-high 13 saves, the eighth time in her collegiate career she has earned 10 or more saves in a single match. Miele led the Wildcats with eight total shots, and three different players appeared in goal for Johnson and Wales, with Madison Flaxington earning the victory after playing over 41 minutes.

Regis College (3-10, 3-5 GNAC) concludes its four-match road swing Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Lasell University with a 5 p.m. start.
