Field Hockey Drops Non-Conference Matchup

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College lost to Mount Holyoke College, 5-0, Wednesday night in a non-conference collegiate field hockey match at Regis Stadium.

Mount Holyoke struck first just over two minutes into the match as, after a shot by Phoebe Aaronson was blocked, Mollee Malboeuf collected the rebound and sent a pass across from right of the net to the left side, where Anna Induni redirected it into the net for her third goal of the season.

A similar play led to the Lyons' second goal just under one minute into the second quarter, as this time it was Kylie Brooks sending the ball across the field to Induni, who converted on another scoring chance for her second tally of the match. Three minutes later, the Pride created a scoring opportunity, but Frankie Alley's (Gardner, Mass.) shot was turned away by Lyon goalie Rachel Katzenberg.

The Lyons increased their advantage with two goals in the span of 2:37 late in the second quarter. First, Malboeuf collected her own rebound and sent the ball into the back of the net for her team's third goal of the match. Later, Cecilia Field fed Gracie Wilkinson for her first goal of the season.

Mount Holyoke continued to control the possession throughout the second half, punctuated by a goal from Brooks off a long pass by Caroline Thompson for the final tally of the night. Brooks and Induni tied for the team lead with six shots apiece in the match.

Katzenberg made the one save as she played the first three quarters to earn the victory before Leah Manning took over for the fourth quarter without facing a shot on goal. Jocelyn White (Wilmington, Mass.) made four saves for the Pride.

Regis College (1-5) hosts Dean College Saturday, Sept. 24, starting at 11 a.m. at Regis Stadium. Mount Holyoke (2-4) is also at home Saturday, facing its conference rival WPI beginning at 12 p.m.
