Regis Field Hockey Earns First Win of Season Over GNAC Foe

WESTON, Mass. - Regis College earned its first win of the season against Albertus Magnus, defeating the Falcons, 4-2, Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference field hockey match at Regis Stadium.

Morgan Pero (Hartford, V.T.) got things rolling for the Regis, scoring the Pride's first goal of the season halfway through the first quarter to put the home team up 1-0. 

Later in the game, Madison Duranleau scored off a pass from Melina Tarzia to tie the match in the second quarter. Frankie Alley (Gardner, Mass.) put the Pride back on top just two and a half minutes later with an unassisted goal. 

Gracie Marsh (Orange, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal early in the third quarter to give the Pride a 3-1 advantage, but the Falcons fought back when Brittany Yarrow found the open net to make it a one-score game. Alley came through for the Pride, scoring her second goal of the contest off a pass from Ava Costello (North Easton, Mass.) to give Regis some breathing room.

Jocelyn White (Wilmington, Mass.) earned the win in goal for the Pride, making six saves, while Serena Montague made 16 saves for the Falcons including two saves on penalty strokes to keep Albertus Magnus within striking distance. Overall, Regis outshot Albertus Magnus 32-16 while also controlling the game in terms of penalty corners by a margin of 9-5.

Regis College (1-2, 1-0 GNAC) hosts Clark University Tuesday, Sept. 13, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Albertus Magnus (0-3, 0-1 GNAC) hosts Lasell Saturday, Sept. 17, starting at 2:30 p.m.
