Pride Field Hockey Picks Up Second Straight Win

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Regis College won its second straight game as three different players scored two goals apiece in the Pride's 9-2 victory over Albertus Magnus Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference field hockey match at Celentano Field.

The Pride struck first at 6:33 when junior Morgan Pero (Hartford, Vt,) found the net off an assist from sophomore Jena Johnson (North Attleboro, Mass.). Later in the period, Pero would assist Gracie Marsh (Orange, Mass.) for the second goal of the contest. The period ended 3-1 in favor of the Pride off a goal from Chloe Grande (Topsfield, Mass.), this time assisted by Marsh.
 
The Pride would score twice more in the second period with Isabella Celli (Pembroke, Mass.) and Frankie Alley (Gardner, Mass.) joining the list of goal scorers. Celli was assisted on her goal by Ashley Monteiro (Atkinson, N.H.) and Alley, while Alley was assisted by Sarah Juskiewicz (Gorham, Maine).
 
In the third period, Pero and Grande would both score their second goals of the game, with Grande being assisted by Marsh.
 
Despite a second goal by Albertus Magnus in the fourth period, Regis would extend its lead in the final quarter with Alley scoring her second goal of the game off an assist from Celli. Charlotte Steeves (Uxbridge, Mass.) would cap off the scoring for the day with her first goal of the season.
 
The Pride outshot Albertus Magnus, 23-13, including 19 shots on goal. Regis drew eight penalty corners during the match and was led in total shots by Alley with seven.
 
Pride goalie Jocelyn White (Wilmington, Mass.) earned her second straight win, totaling six saves throughout the contest. Albertus Magnus goalie Shea Lawrie made 10 saves for the Falcons.
 
Regis College (3-9, 3-7 GNAC) finishes off the regular season Wednesday, Oct. 27, as they host Johnson & Wales beginning at 7:30 p.m., with the Senior Night presentation taking place before the match.
