Pride Field Hockey Drops GNAC Match at Simmons

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Regis College was defeated by Simmons University, 8-0, Saturday in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference collegiate field hockey match at Daly Field.

Simmons' first goal came in the eighth minute of play as Emilia Elko scored off an assist from Hannah Groves. The Sharks added to their lead in the second quarter with an unassisted goal by Sydney Gonyea, followed by another one from Haley Dover later in the period to give the home team a 3-0 advantage.
 
Simmons built on their lead in the second half with Elko scoring three straight goals off assists from Gonyea, Anna Tedeschi, and Cameron Jester. Gonyea added to the lead with her second goal of the contest, this time assisted by Groves, while Dover capped off the scoring for the Sharks with her second unassisted goal of the contest.
 
Jocelyn White (Wilmington, Mass.) made eight saves for the Pride, while Emma Sheehan and Sarah Arenberg split time in goal for the Sharks. Elko and Gonyea led Simmons University with seven shots apiece.
 
Regis College (1-7, 1-5 GNAC) hosts the University of Saint Joseph Wednesday, Oct. 13, beginning at 5 p.m. Simmons University hosts Lasell Wednesday, Oct. 13, starting at 7 p.m.
