Regis Field Hockey Earns Dramatic Overtime Victory

WESTON, Mass. – Senior Sarah Tetrault (North Easton, Mass.) scored with 4:06 remaining in the second overtime period to give Regis College a 2-1 victory over Anna Maria College Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference field hockey match at Regis Stadium.

Anna Maria pressed the play in the first overtime period, but Regis goalie Jocelyn White (Wilmington, Mass.) did not let a ball past her, making six saves during the 10-minute session. One of those saves was on a penalty stroke attempted by Chayna Bingham-Hendricks midway through the period.

In the second overtime period, each team traded penalty corner chances, with a shot by Meghan Sonia on Anna Maria's opportunity sailing over the net. On the counterattack, Frankie Alley (Gardner, Mass.) gathered a rebound off a blocked shot and found Tetrault running in from the right wing. Tetrault dove to connect her stick to the ball, which rolled into the net to clinch the Pride's first victory of the season.

After a scoreless first period, Regis struck first seven minutes into the second period, as Alley found Morgan Pero (Hartford, Vt.) for Pero's first goal of the season. The Pride continued to pressure the AMCAT defense, but shots by Pero and Isabella Celli (Pembroke, Mass.) were turned away by Anna Maria goalie Hannah Tobey.

In the final minute before halftime, the AMCATS gained possession and quickly advanced the ball down the field, creating a penalty corner opportunity with 24 seconds remaining. After White stopped a shot by Allyson Shaw, Sonia gathered the rebound and passed it to Kayla Proia, who converted on her scoring chance to tie the match heading into intermission.

White finished the match with 13 saves and a season-high .929 save percentage as she earned her first career collegiate victory. Tobey was credited with four saves for the AMCATS. Anna Maria finished with the advantage in shots on goal, 14-6, led by Bingham-Hendricks with four shots on goal. Regis was led by Celli and Pero with two shots on goal apiece.
