GILBERT, Ariz. – The Regis College field hockey team excelled both on the field and in the classroom during the fall 2019 season, as the Pride earned the 2019 Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Team Award, announced Thursday by the organization.

Regis is one of 147 Division III field hockey programs to receive the award after earning a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall 2019 semester. Regis is one of seven Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) teams to pick up the award this year, along with Albertus Magnus, Colby-Sawyer, Johnson & Wales, Lasell, GNAC champion Saint Joseph's College, and Simmons.

The Pride finished in a tie for third in the regular season GNAC standings with a 4-4 league mark as part of an 8-11 overall record. Regis won its last four regular season matches in a row, including three straight shutouts, as well as its first round contest in the GNAC Tournament before losing in the semifinals to the Monks.

From the 2019 roster, 11 student-athletes are eligible to return to the program for the 2020 season, including GNAC Rookie of the Year Sheridan Blaha (Waltham, Mass.) as well as GNAC All-Tournament honorees Amelia Thomas (Hopkinton, N.H.) and Hope Winkin (Winslow, Maine).
